Three dedicated football coaches have come together to volunteer their time and talent to support the Biggar United Junior Football Team. Driven by a shared passion for the game and a commitment to youth development, they work tirelessly to create a positive, encouraging environment where local children can learn new skills, build confidence, and enjoy being part of a team. Their selfless contribution is helping to shape not just future players, but responsible, resilient young people both on and off the pitch.
Lewis Yellop
Hello my name is Lewis Yellop and I am one of the coaches at Biggar united juniors , I have been coaching football for 6 years now and Biggar united juniors is the 2nd team I have been involved with and I have a passion for football and enjoy helping people develop in the game , in my free time I take my dogs out a walk or playing football and work at sky in Livingston
Josh Kearney
Hi i am Josh Kearney and I am one of the Assistant Coaches at Biggar United Juniors 2017s. I like to keep myself to myself and live on the quiet side of life, with my time spent out walking the dog and out visiting friends and family. I like to consider myself fairly fit as I like to do a bit of hiking (long distance) try do 1-2 trips a year. I have also recently started coaching the kids football as well twice a week.
This is something I didn't see myself doing to be honest, I have always been shy of meeting and speaking out in front of new people never mind coaching them, but it been amazing meeting them all, coaching the kids and getting to know the parents it really has and glad my mate dragged me out to be apart of it all.
My best parts to it so far has been meeting everyone and watching the kids get better and better with each session they do and seeing all there all work paying off for them.
Ross Hendrie
Ross Hendrie – Head Coach, Biggar United Juniors
I’ve always had a deep passion for sport, growing up playing just about everything—but rugby was where I truly excelled, representing both club and district sides. I stepped away from the game to build a career as a barber, knowing the physical demands of rugby could risk my future in the trade.
Barbering has been the foundation of my working life. Over the years, I’ve not only run a successful shop, but built a space where people feel safe, listened to, and respected. I’ve worked closely with children and vulnerable adults throughout my career, and it’s something I take great pride in. Many people seek out my shop not just for a haircut, but for the supportive and welcoming environment I’ve worked hard to create. In 2023, I was honoured to win a Scotland Business Award for my barbershop—recognition that means a lot because it reflects the trust and connection I’ve built with my community.
Coaching Biggar United Juniors brings that same sense of connection. I’m incredibly passionate about working with our young players—seeing them grow in confidence, develop their skills, and enjoy being part of a team is one of the most rewarding parts of my life. It’s a real privilege to guide them on and off the pitch, and I take great pride in helping them become the best version of themselves.
